SALEM – Eva L. Calvin, 97, of Salem, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, March 29, 2024.
Eva was born on January 11, 1927, in Chester, WV, a daughter of H.P. and Gladys Silverthorn Brewer. She married Bert Calvin on August 19, 1944. She was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church and also attended Struthers Baptist Tabernacle for many years. Eva supported Bert on the family farm and enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, weaving, and caring for her family.
Eva leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Earl (Martha) Calvin and Roy Calvin; four daughters Nancy (Tracy) Shipley, Esther (George) Travers, Lois (John) Palazzo and Ruth (Jim) Shuda; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bert, who passed away February 19, 2007; and siblings Dorothy (Darwin) Mercer, Robert (Mary) Brewer, Alvin Brewer, Ernest (Linda) Brewer and Harold (Ruth) Brewer.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. at Locust Grove Baptist Church, 12015 Washingtonville Road, Salem, OH with Pastor Bob Noble officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
