Edna Rummel, 89, of New Springfield, passed away on Sunday, January 29 at the Hospice House in Poland, where she had been a patient for three days, of infirmities of age.
Edna was born on June 4, 1922 in Woodworth, a daughter of Michael and Suzanna (Kloss) Ziegler, and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1940 graduate of Boardman High School, Edna was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of New Springfield where she was a past member of the choir and women’s circle.
Edna leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Carolyn (James) Oesch of Sterling Heights, Mich., Marilyn (William) Pekkanen of Struthers, and Arlene (Gerald) Okey of Evansville, Ind.; her sons, Carl Jr. (Peg) of New Springfield and Larry(Becky) of Cabot, Ark.; and 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Carl Sr., who died on June 3, 1994; her brothers, Frank Kloos, and Albert and Henry Ziegler; her sisters, Hedwig Ziegler, Alma Schoenfelt, Pauline Martin, and Lois Ann Ziegler.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Rev. Aimee Raymond officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the New Springfield Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at both the Hospice House and Masternick’s Memorial Health Care Center for the care and compassion given to Edna during her stays there.
A special thank you is also extended to Dr. Richard Wise for taking care of Edna throughout the years.
