PETERSBURG – Ruth E. Yauman, 90, passed away Saturday, November 3 at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Boardman surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born on August 17, 1922 in Petersburg, Ohio, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Barth) Koch and was a life-long resident of the Petersburg area.
After graduating from Kent State University, Ruth taught at Newton Falls and East Palestine schools. She married Roy O. Yauman on May 27, 1951. She then worked with her husband on their family farm, where they were known for growing strawberries and having fields of pick your own strawberries for over fifty years.
She was a member of Paradise Lutheran Church, and enjoyed being active in church groups as well as to the Springfield Township Historical Society.
Ruth leaves to cherish her precious memory two sons, Jeffry (Wilma) Yauman of Ringgold, GA, and Keith Yauman with whom Ruth made her home; a granddaughter Michelle Yauman of Chatsworth, GA; a grandson Jason (Angel) Yauman of Front Royal, VA; a great-grandson Julian; two brothers C. Raymond (Vivian) Koch and Roy (Judy) Koch and one sister Martha (Jack) Kennedy, all of Petersburg.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy, who passed away October 3, 2009, an infant son James, and a brother Paul Koch.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 7 at 11 a.m. at the Paradise Lutheran Church at 3689 W. Western Reserve Road with Pastor Jim Houston officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home at 11500 Market Street, North Lima. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
