NORTH LIMA- Joseph Louis Sabino, 85, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday evening at Hospice House after an extended illness.
Joseph was born on February 23, 1927 in Girard, the son of Louis and Rose (Carusone) Sabino.
A 1946 graduate of Girard High School, Joseph would graduate from Westminster College in 1950. Joseph married the former Effie Maggard on August 25, 1951. She passed away on January 14, 1999. Later he married the former Terry Banyots. He was employed by various school districts in Southern Ohio as High School Band Director for 24 years. His high school marching bands won numerous top awards, and even marched in the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami, FL.
Joseph enjoyed golfing, studying law, and listening to classical music. His children would remark that “as long as something makes a musical sound, our dad will be found playing it and entertaining those around him.” He was an accomplished musician, and shared his love of music with all who knew him.
Joseph leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife of Terry Sabino; his daughter, Angela Rose; a son, Jeffrey Sabino; step-children, Jim Sabino, Alfonso Sabino, Louie Sabino, and Cindy Potesta; four grandchildren, Julia Sabino, Michael Sabino, Adam Stroud and Joy Regimbal; and a brother, Al Sabino.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Effie; and a sister, Angeline Sabino.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
