Twila Eileen Powell, 84, of Columbiana, passed away at home on November 27 with her family members at her bedside.
Twila was born on April 26, 1928 in New Middletown, the daughter of James and Helen (Beight) Simcox. She was one of four sisters and three brothers.
A graduate of Springfield Township High School, Twila was employed as a secretary to the engineering department of Truscon Steel. On May 24, 1952 she married Tracy Powell and they made their residence in Columbiana.
She was a lifetime member of Old Springfield United Church of Christ and was its choir director for many years. An auto accident in 1972 left her with serious injuries and their ongoing consequences. She was a good wife and mother who delighted in life’s simple pleasures, asked for little and gave much.
Twila leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband of 60 years, Tracy Powell; a son, David of North Olmsted; a daughter, Jane Ann (Nevin) Yoder of Salesville; a granddaughter, Codi Rae Yoder, of Salesville; a brother, Lewis Simcox of Greenville, N.C.; and two sisters, Mary Jane Williams and Ida Mae Metz of Columbiana.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Kolesar; and two brothers, Harold and Bill Simcox.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 29 and from 10 to 11 am Friday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. John Bartholomew officiating.
