COLUMBIANA – Thelma Elaine Bacon, 92, of New Springfield, passed away Monday morning, November 11, at Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana surrounded by her family.
Thelma was born on March 31, 1921 in Youngstown, a daughter of Clarence Frank and Bertha (Henderson) Snyder. She moved to New Springfield in her youth and became a life-long resident.
She was a 1939 graduate of Springfield High School, and married Darrel A. Bacon on October 27, 1940. They were a month shy of their 61st anniversary when he passed away on September 29, 2001.
Thelma was employed at Gorant Chocolatier as packing manager for many years, until she retired in 2000 at the age of 79.
Thelma was a lifetime member of her church, Trinity United Methodist Church in New Springfield. She loved to be busy and work.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her three daughters, Ruthann (Roger) Henry of Canfield, OH, Carol (Steve) Withers of Poland, OH, and Beverly (Steve) Melching of Big Canoe, GA; two sons, Wayne (Barb) Bacon of New Springfield, OH and Gordon (Beth) Bacon of East Rochester, OH; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eloise Pfeifauf and Lucyann WIlliams of Osteen, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrel, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2427 Columbiana Road, New Springfield, OH 44443 with Pastor Patricia G. Allen-Lintela officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima.
