Oris H. Bacon, 87, of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 3:28 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at his home. He was born March 2, 1922 in New Springfield, Ohio, the son of Harry A. and Anna V. (Gamble) Bacon.
Oris was a 1940 graduate of New Springfield High School. He worked at Harold Tool as a Die Maker for 14 years. Mr. Bacon also farmed and was a certified mechanic for Riehl Farm Equipment of Columbiana & Witmer’s Inc. of Columbiana. Oris served stateside in the Navy during W.W. II, was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbiana and a member of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International.
Mr. Bacon is survived by his wife, E. Dale (Collier-Lange) Bacon, whom he married on May 30, 1946. He is also survived by two daughters, Martha (Dan) Schaefer of New Springfield, Ohio, Leslie Best of Columbiana, Ohio; one son, Lowell (Nancy) Bacon of Columbiana, Ohio; one brother, O. Edgar Bacon of New Waterford, Ohio; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Oris was preceded in death by one son, Martin Scott Bacon, one daughter, Judy Lee Hartford, two brothers, Roy and Darrell Bacon and one great-grandson, Drew Allen Cagot.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Columbiana with Mr. Jerry Pingley officiating. Burial will be in New Springfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the funeral at the church from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2009.
Family suggests that material contributions be made to the First Christian Church in Columbiana or the Church of God of New Springfield.
