LISBON – Albert J. Becka Jr. passed away at the Salem Regional Medical Center in Salem on March 9, 2018, at the age of 76, after battling a long illness.
Albert was predeceased by his parents, Albert John and Catherine Becka of Parma.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Leigh Becka, of seven years; his sister, Yvonne Glatzhofer, and brother-in-law Paul of Brunswick; his son, Jack Becka, PGA golf professional, of Diamond and wife Megan; grandchildren Addison and Peyton; and his daughter, Lisa Becka, LPGA golf professional, of Columbiana.
Albert and Sandy were married on Dec. 31, 2011, at their home in Lisbon.
Albert was born in Cleveland in 1941. He graduated from West Tech High School in May 1959. He was drafted into the military in September 1959 and served in Germany through 1961.
Albert was a glazier by trade, working for Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Cleveland, until the family purchased Copeland Hills Golf Club in Columbiana, where he raised his children, Lisa and Jack, with former wife of 24 years, Patricia Becka. He retired in July 2005.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and a memorial service providing a Military Honor Guard and the playing of Taps with a 21-gun salute will follow on Monday, March 12, 2018, at 4 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 South Elm St. in Columbiana.
