Chester R. Queen

October 3, 1926 ~ August 19, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old


Chester R. Queen, 90, of North Lima, passed away early Saturday morning, August 19, at the
Whispering Pines Village in Columbiana following a prolonged illness.

Chester was born on Oct.3, 1926 in Struthers, a son of Arnold L. and Toye (Simpson) Queen,
and was a lifelong area resident.

A 1944 graduate of Struthers High School, Chester had been a long time job estimator and
process engineer for the William B. Pollock Company of Youngstown and R. C. Fabricating, Inc
of Columbiana. Prior to his long career in the steel industry he had served in the U. S. Navy
during World War 2. He was assigned to the USS Bon Home Richard (CV-31) Essex-class
aircraft carrier. He served in the Pacific during the last year of the war as well as its immediate
aftermath.

Central to Mr. Queen’s long life was his Christian faith expressed in part by his faithful church
membership. He was an active member of the New Springfield Church of God, especially in
the adult Sunday School as a teacher and in the local and foreign mission ministries of the
church. An additional expression of his faith and importance of community, he was a long time
supporter of the North Lima Schools and devoted member of the Beaver Township Ruritan
Club.

He was predeceased (January 25, 2012) by his cherished wife Annis (Allen) Queen whom he
married February 16, 1948. He leaves his precious memory to his sons Arnold of Prosperity,
SC, daughter-in-law Susan Queen of Gaston, SC, Timothy (Laura) of Columbia, SC and Mark
(Paula) of Summerville, SC; his sisters Evelyn Queen of Columbiana, OH and Ruth (Queen)
Perry of East Rochester, OH; his brother Robert Queen of Boardman, OH; his grandchildren
Matthew Queen and Michael Queen and Melinda (Queen) Taylor, Megan and Joshua Queen
and Julia Barnett-Queen; and 6 great-grandchildren, Madelyne Queen; Tyson, Aiden and Jiya
Taylor, Marin and Sutton Queen. He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Arnold, Harold
and Herbert and his grandson Timothy (Jack) Barnett-Queen.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00am at the New Springfield Church of God.

The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana has been entrusted with the
arrangements.

The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff at the Whispering Pines Village
and Harbor Light Hospice for their tender care and love extended to the family during this
difficult time.
