Eugene W. Macklin

Columbiana – Eugene W. Macklin, 90, passed away May 17, 2017 at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana surrounded by his children.

Eugene was born on May 26, 1926, in Columbiana, a son of Lloyd and Grace (Kyser) Macklin. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Army during WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater and earning the Victory Medal.  He worked at Wm. K. Stamets Co.  as an assembler and machine operator and NRM Corp. in Columbiana, and retired from 4-DS in Leetonia.

Eugene was a proud member of the American Legion Post 290 in Columbiana and Post 131 in Leetonia.  He could be found hunting or fishing when he had free time, and he loved to entertain his friends with his harmonica.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Eugene leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Carol Black and her husband Dave of New Middletown and Colleen Heverly and her husband Bill of Leetonia; two sons Robert Sr. and his wife Patty of Columbiana and Larry Sr. of Leetonia; two sisters Patty (Art) Webb and Virginia Arthurs, all of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  He also leaves dearly beloved family members Becky Keck, Victoria Bettura, and Missy Macklin. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, the former Charlotte Culp, whom he married March 25, 1950 and who passed away May 15, 2011, a brother Howard, who died in 1944 during WWII in Germany, a brother Robert “Buck”, and a sister Evelyn Perrot.

A memorial service officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Corbett will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 25 at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 14550 New Buffalo Rd, Columbiana, OH 44408.

Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 290.
