Margaret E. (Morey) McMeans

Margaret E. McMeans, 98, died at the home of her daughter in Arlington, Virginia. She was born 21 August 1919, in Charleston, West Virginia, the daughter of John and Mabel Edith (Bunce) Morey.  She married Donald W. McMeans, 26 July 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio. They moved to the North Lima area in 1945 to raise their children.

     Margaret loved to do things with her children--gardening, reading stories, and memorizing poetry. She was active in the North Lima Booster club and worked to light the football field. She was also active in church and taught adult Sunday school for over forty years. After he youngest child graduated she became a department manager for J. C. Penny's in Boardman, Ohio.

     The family was always first to Margaret, sharing holiday, birthdays, anniversaries and vacations in South Carolina. After she retired she began writing the family history. She spent hours traveling from courthouses, libraries and cemeteries to document her book with her brother, John.

      Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Margaret (Michael) Williams, Arlington, Virginia and Donna (Lewis) Litchfield, New Bern, North Carolina; a son, William McMeans, Arlington, Virginia; two grandchildren, Eric (Ann) Litchfield and Melinda (Mark Ward) Williams, Laguna Beach, California; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Catherine Litchfield; a sister, Francis Heim, Birmingham, Michigan and two brothers, John Morey, Sharon, Pennsylvania, and Wade Morey, DuBois, Pennsylvania; as well as nieces in Texas and Michigan.

     Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McMeans, 24 July 1985, a brother, William Morey, and two sisters, Mary Jean Federico and Mabel Wolford.

     Services will be held 11:00, Monday morning, November 13, at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, Ohio. Neighbors and friends are invited to join the family at 10:00, one hour before the service.
