SEBRING – After a long, blessed life, Olive E. Mackey, 97, passed away peacefully at Alliance Community Hospital early in the morning of Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
Olive was born to Floyd and Muriel (Richardson) McCue on May 13, 1920 in Martins Ferry, OH. She married Raymond “Dick” Mackey on July 11, 1946. Olive worked at Slagle Egg Processing in Greenford, OH for several years. She belonged to the Merry Stitchers, The Grange, and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in North Lima, OH.
Olive enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking, and was known to make an excellent coconut cream pie.
Olive is survived by her daughter, Deborah Riffle, and son-in-law, Richard, of Troutman, NC; four grandchildren, Kelley (Glenn) Lyda, Timothy (Leah) Thullen, Jamie (Parvez) Khambatta, and Kyle (Kerry) Riffle; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Mark, Aaron, Quentin, Wyatt and Gabriel; and a brother, Paul (Mildred) McCue.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, George, Ward, Harry, and Mary; her husband, Dick, who passed away January 27, 1989; her daughter, Martha Thullen, who passed away October 31, 2008; and her son-in-law, Richard "Dick" Thullen, who passed away December 22, 2004.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28 from 6-8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, OH.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 a.m, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave, North Lima, OH 44452, with Pastor Renae Megitt and Pastor David Parry officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Olive’s memory to the 4-H scholarship fund set up in 2008 in her daughter Martha's name. Checks should be made out to the "Martha Thullen Memorial Goat Scholarship Fund" and sent in care of Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, PO Box 1, Columbiana, OH 44408.
