Raymond F. Baker

POLAND – Raymond F. Baker, 73, of Boardman, passed away at the Hospice House Saturday evening, February 10, 2018.

Raymond was born on March 8, 1944 in Youngstown, OH, a son of William M. and Eunice G. (Ackerman) Baker. A 1964 Boardman High School graduate, he joined the Ohio National Guard during the Vietnam War era.  He worked in the coke plant at Republic Steel as a Jackman before moving on to Lordstown, where he was a millwright in the truck plant.  Ray later worked in maintenance at the Boardman Park, and drove a school bus for Boardman Schools. Soon he was the mechanic at the Boardman Schools bus garage where he later became the manager.  He retired in July 2002.

Ray leaves to cherish his precious memory a sister, Deborah Crowe and her husband Robert of North Lima; two brothers, William and his wife Edwina of Canfield and Joseph of Boardman; his nieces Judy Baker-Beno and her husband Todd and Melissa Klem; a nephew John Guzaski; and his great-nephews Justin and Keith.

Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a niece, Lisa Brady.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m., two hours prior to the service,  at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Ray’s memory to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH  44514.
