Thomas "Tom" Burkett Obituary

LISBON - Thomas “Tom” David Burkett, 42, of Lisbon, Ohio, died suddenly Saturday March 2, 2024 at Mercy Health Boardman Hospital.

Tom was born November 16, 1981 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of the late Geoffrey and Peggy Burkett. A graduate of Boardman High School class of 2000, and the ITT Technical Institute in 2005, he worked for the Sebring Local School District as an Information Technology Coordinator.

Tom had a passion for technology, and he always enjoyed learning new things.  He loved games: anything from video games to quirky brain teasers and he passed that love on to his friends and family. Tom was an avid comic book reader.  He loved DC Comics including Batman, the X-Men and the Green Lantern.  Tom also enjoyed building large complex Lego sets with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife and soul mate of 20 years, Heather Lyder Burkett and his loving children, Noah and Chloe Burkett, of whom he was exceptionally proud.  He is also survived by two brothers, Mike Burkett and his wife Brandi, and Greg Burkett; a sister, Mary Burkett; mother-in-law, Darla Lyder; brother-in-law, Brett Lyder and his wife Deanna; sister-in-law, Michele Ericson and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Bill Lyder, and sister-in-law, Tiffany Burkett.
