POLAND – Donald W. Sutherin, 84, passed away Saturday evening, May 5 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center in New Middletown.
Donald was born on March 8, 1934, in Middleton Township, OH, a son of Clyde W. and Esther E. (Hulton) Sutherin. He moved to Unity in his youth, where he owned and operated Sutherin Greenhouse for 50 years. Don sold the business in 1990, and retired in 1997. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963, and belonged to Grace Church in Columbiana.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, the former Janis J. Unger Hitchcock, whom he married December 7, 1973; daughter Tracey Sciaretta of North Lima; son Brian Hitchcock and his wife Terra DeLeon of Worthington, OH; sister Margaret McConahy of East Palestine; three grandchildren Joseph Jr., Lia, Katriese; three great-grandchildren Joseph III, Annaleigh, and Nathan.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson Asher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 4:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with the Rev. Rob Joy officiating.
Interment will be at Columbiana Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that material donations be made in Donald’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
