Dorothy "Dot" J. (Leep) Roming

EAST PALESTINE – Dorothy “Dot” J. Romig, 96, of Columbiana passed away early Saturday morning, July 1 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine.

Dot was born on February 4, 1921, in New York City, NY, a daughter of Ferman B. and Metta (Zink) Leep.  She moved to the area with her family when she was 12, and graduated Columbiana High School in 1939.  She married Dale McCormick in June 1940, and together they had two children.  After his death in December 1976, she married Wayne Romig in 1978.  Sadly he would pass in 2001.

Dot enjoyed being a homemaker and playing bingo.  She was the past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Leetonia Post 1496.  Together with Wayne, Dot saw the world, through cruises and travelling to all parts of the United States and many other countries.  In her later years, Dot was very active at Whispering Pines Village,   where she enjoyed many different social activities.  In her quiet time, she colored beautiful pictures that covered her rooms.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her son Robert ‘Bob’ McCormick and daughter Judith White, both of Columbiana, eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. 

Dot was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale McCormick, her husband Wayne Romig, and her daughter-in-law Frances McCormick, who passed in 2002.

Per Dot’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

The family would like to thank the staff of Whispering Pines for the fantastic care she received during her stay there.
