Elsie M. (Lutsch) Yokley

SALEM – Elsie M. Yokley, 85, passed away Wednesday evening, December 6, 2017 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Elsie was born on February 9, 1932, in Salem, a daughter of Martin and Ruth V. (Williams) Lutsch. She moved with her family to Columbiana in 1935.  She attended Capital University in Columbus for two years and graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelors of Education.  She also attained a Masters of Reading Specialist. Elsie married Harold H. Yokley on June 6, 1953; he passed away April 29, 1992.

Elsie taught at Crestview elementary school in New Waterford from 1960 to 1971.  She later sold real estate for Better Homes and Gardens of Poland, OH, working out of the Columbiana office.  Elsie belonged to Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana, where she was a member of the Charity Circle.  Elsie also was a member of the Columbiana and Salem Christian Women and the Retired Teachers Association.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons Ronald William Yokley of San Pablo, CA and Brent Harold Yokley and his wife Rachel of Salem; a daughter Sharon Dailey and her husband John of New Waterford; a brother Martin Lutsch Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold and her son Daniel Lee Yokley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 12:30 p.m. at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana.

The family will receive friends at noon, a half-hour before the services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 415 S. Main St, Columbiana, OH 44408.
