Margaret Marie (Wellendorf) Forney

COLUMBIANA – Margaret Marie Forney, 86, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 10, 2018 at Parkside Health Care Center surrounded by her daughters.

Mrs. Forney was born on November 9, 1931 in Columbiana, a daughter of Ferdinand and Amelia Shaw Wellendorf.  A life-long area resident, she was employed as a practical nurse for 25 years at various nursing homes, including Parkside, St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center and Diamond Head.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana for over 50 years, where she was a part of the Marian Circle and the Quilting Circle.  She also served as a deacon at the church, taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, and was a Bible Camp, Brownie, and Girl Scout Counselor.  Margaret enjoyed crochet, cross-stitch and scrapbooking in her free time. 

Margaret leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Linda Forney of Columbiana and Mary Anne Snapp and her husband P.C. of Johnson City, TN; one son Glenn Forney and his wife Sarah of Meridian, ID; 8 grandchildren Jeffrey Toker, Jessica Toker-Perry, Rob McBane, Audra Olinger, Zachary Forney, Evan Forney, Rebecca Forney and Rachel Forney and 7 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Forney whom she married September 2, 1949 and who passed away January 7, 1987; sisters Dora Clay, Florence Pittman, Charlotte Southern and Harriett Campbell, and brothers Clarence, Omar and Ralph Wellendorf.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana, 28 E. Park Avenue, Columbiana with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Margaret’s memory to First Presbyterian Church.
