Paul Edward Steiner, 89, of North Lima, Ohio passed away Monday, May 13th in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 13, 1930 to the late David and Naomi (Hartzler) Steiner and stepmother Katie (Smucker) Steiner. He married his high school sweetheart, the late Jean (Mellinger) Steiner, July 12 1951. They spent their years together dedicated to their church, riding bikes, visiting gardens and traveling here and abroad. They also built the first underground home in Mahoning County.
Paul worked at Kaiser Aluminum and National Refractories as a supervisor until his retirement. After that he worked at Mellinger’s Garden Center and for the last several years he worked in the Salem Walmart assembling bikes, grills and in the garden center. For many years he was a Sunday school teacher and an elder at North Lima Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his children, Elaine (Chris) Williams, Beverly (Kevin) Kimmel, and Philip (Mariellen) Steiner. His brothers Albert (Carol) Daniel (Vera), Samuel (Sue), a sister Martha Sue Headings and preceded in death by his sister Joanna (Dave) Witmer. He leaves 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11:00AM on Saturday May 18th at North Lima Mennonite Church in North Lima. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00PM Friday evening May 17th and from 10:00-11:00AM Saturday also at North Lima Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pregnancy Center of Mahoning County (pregnancyhelpcenter.com) or the Mennonite Central Committee (mcc.org).
