YOUNGSTOWN - Alan Eugene Yerkey, 49, passed away January 19th at his home. He was a graduate of South Range High School, and the owner of Yerkey Trucking for several years until an accident disabled him. He was known for his kindness; he took anyone in that needed a place to stay. He loved his dogs like they were his kids. He was the neighborhood handyman, and never turned down work no matter how much pain he was in. He is survived by his fiancAC.e of 13 years Joyce Sattarelle; his stepchildren Stephanie Sattarelle and Joseph Sattarelle of Youngstown, with whom he made his home; his aunt Sandy Ferrante whom he loved dearly; his father Joe Yerkey of Salem; his brother John Yerkey of Salem; his half-brother John Yerkey; one niece; eight nephews; two great nieces and one great nephew. He loved them all. He was preceded in death by his mother Joan Kaylene Campbell, his biological father Howard Wendt, a brother Gerald Yerkey, a sister Wendy Yerkey, and his nana and pa Gerald and Vivian Yerkey with whom he made his home with at any early age. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet U.C.C., 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, with Pastor David Howell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the church's Minister Discretionary fund.
