Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home 11500 Market St. P.O. Box 281 North Lima, Ohio 44451 330-549-2231 Services will be held for Alberta Caroline Gebhardt, Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lockwood United Methodist Church in Boardman, Ohio with Rev. Sharon Carson officiating in the absence of Rev. Michael McHale. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Lockwood United Methodist Church in Boardman, Ohio. Alberta, who died Thursday, May 4, 2006 at the Assumption Village Health Care Center in North Lima, was 83 years old. She was born on January 21, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio to Samuel Calvin and Dora (Wolf) Gebhardt. Bert was a 1941 graduate of East High School and had lived on Youngstown's Eastside until moving to New Springfield in the 1970's. She was a 1946 graduate of Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing and as part of her training was also a Cadet Nurse at Massillon State Hospital during W.W. II. Alberta had been head nurse for several years on 1-NW- at North Side Hospital where she was known as "Gebby" by her staff. Bert enjoyed gardening; bird feeding; photography; and traveling. She made many trips to Cook's Forest; Florida; Cape Cod; and Canada where she enjoyed boating and fishing. She especially enjoyed walks in Lincoln Park and Mill Creek Park where she took award winning photos - some of which were published in Photography Magazine and also displayed at the photo exhibit at the Canfield Fair. Bert was a member of Lockwood United Methodist Church; the Brindle Sunday School Class; the Miriam Circle of L.U. M. and the Retired Nurses. She is survived by three brothers Paul (Margie) Gebhardt of Ambler, Pa. and Sarasota, Florida; Ralph (Eleanor) Gebhardt of New Springfield; Norman (Sally) Gebhardt of Birmingham, Michigan; and numerous nieces and nephews, and her much loved poodle, Cindy. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers Carl Gebhardt and Howard Gebhardt, two sisters Dorothy Harig and Ruth Gebhardt and a nephew Gary Gebhardt. During Berts later years nieces Diane Chlebus and Carolyn McCorkle and nephew Dale Gebhardt shared the duties of caregivers. Her passing will leave an empty space in the family and a hole in our hearts but she is now with our Lord. We would like to thank all the staff at Assumption Village for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Alberta during the past 2 A½ years. They are truly angels of mercy. In place of flowers donations to the Lockwood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Youngstown, Ohio would be appreciated. Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio was entrusted with the arrangements.
