Alfred "Al" F. Ridel, 61, of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away suddenly at 11:06 a.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2010 following a long illness. Mr. Ridel was born on June 6, 1948 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Alfred Ridel and Lucille M. (Bowers) Ridel-Parks. Al was a life long area resident of Columbiana. He was a 1967 graduate of Columbiana High School. He was the Vice President of Consumer Lending for 37 years at Farmers National Bank in Canfield having retired in July of 2008. Mr. Ridel was a member of the St. Jude Catholic Church of Columbiana and the Sons of the American Legion Post #290 of Columbiana. Al was an avid golfer. Mr. Ridel is survived by his wife, Bobbie (Sprague) Ridel, whom he married on January 24, 1970. He is also survived by two sons, Matt (Kristin) Ridel of Maumee, Ohio and Bob (Sarah) Ridel of Canfield, Ohio; three step brothers, Larry Parks of California, Gary (Ellen) Parks of Kansas and Luke Parks of California; and his sister in law, Andrea Parks of Pennsylvania. Al was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Fink; his step brother, Terrance Parks; his step father, Luther "Luke" Parks and his grandfather, Paul Ridel. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the mass from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
