Anna L. Hayes, 80, of 930 East Park Ave, formerly of West Park Ave in Columbiana, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Parkside Health Care Center in Columbiana. Anna was born on May 3, 1928 in Moundsville, West Virginia, the daughter of Raymond R. and Susan Mae (Strait) Myers. Anna moved to Ohio from Middleburn, West Virginia in 1945. In earlier years, Anna worked at Potteries in East Liverpool and had also worked at the Columbiana American Legion Post 290 as a waitress. Anna was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbiana and of the V.F.W. Post 5532 Auxiliary of Washingtonville and the American Legion Post 290 Auxiliary of Columbiana and 8 & 40 Salon #432 of Columbiana County. Mrs. Hayes was an avid bowler, card player and enjoyed traveling with family. Anna was preceded in death on August 6, 1997 by her husband, Albert Raymond Hayes Jr., whom she married on December 21, 1946. Anna is survived by two daughters, Karen Richards of New Waterford, Patricia (Richard) Coffman of Columbiana and Cindy who was like a daughter to her; four sons, Roger (Carol) Hayes of San Diego, California, Albert Hayes III of Leetonia, Wayne Hayes of Leetonia, Michael (Cindy) Hayes of New Waterford; one sister, Opal Rice of Weirton, West Virginia; three brothers, Samuel Myers of Stow, Ohio, George Myers of Weirton, West Virginia, M. Newt Myers of Columbiana and 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who enjoyed going to Parkside to visit her and have parties with her. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Trump and Mary Lou Cumberledge; two brothers, Harold Myers and Paul Myers; and by three sisters, Gertrude Turvey, Emma Myers and Hattie Myers. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Mr. John Reed officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. The family wishes to extend their thanks to nurses and aides who gave their loving care to Anna at Parkside. The family suggests that material contributions be made to The First Christian Church in Columbiana.
