Annis L. (Allen) Queen, 85, of North Lima, passed away Wednesday, January 25, at the Hospice House in Poland following a five-year illness. Annis was born on Oct. 6, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of James R. and Clara (Henley) Allen, and was a lifelong area resident. A 1944 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, Annis had been a secretary for the law and accounting offices of Axman & Lomax of Youngstown for 8 years, Kelly Girls Co., and Hunt Valve of Salem. She was an active member of the New Springfield Church of God, especially in the children's and women's ministries. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband Chester, whom she married February 16, 1948; her sons, Arnold of Prosperity, S.C., daughter-in-law Susan Queen of Gaston, S.C., Timothy (Laura) of Las Cruces, N.M., and Mark (Paula) of Summerville, S.C.; her brothers, Jack, Robert, and Jim Allen, all of North Carolina; her sisters, Ruth Kmetz and Janet Gething of Ohio and Beverly Wyatt and Emilie Denmeade of Florida; her grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Queen and Mindy Taylor, Megan and Joshua Queen, and Jack and Julie Barnett-Queen; and two great-grandchildren, Tyson and Aiden Taylor. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima has been entrusted with the arrangements.
