Obituary

COLUMBIANA - A. Donald Kabler, 81, of Columbiana, passed away suddenly Monday at 1:00 pm at Salem Community Hospital Emergency Room. He was born on February 15, 1932 in Columbiana, the son of William Francis and Anna Pearl (Evans) Kabler, and was a life-long resident. After graduating Columbiana High School in 1950, Don served from 1952 to 1954 with the Army's 2nd Infantry Division during the Korean War. He worked for Dick Souder's Construction and later would work many years as a self-employed carpenter. Don was an active member of First United Methodist Church. A charter member of the Columbiana Jaycees, he served as the 2nd President in 1958 and held most offices. Don was also a life member of Columbiana American Legion Post 290, being Post Commander in 1986, and a life member of Washingtonville VFW Post 5532. Don is survived by his step-daughter, Annette (Randy) Borroni-Welday of Millersburg; his sister, Wilma (James) Hum of Columbiana and his twin sister Dorothy (James) Thomas of Pell City, AL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Ada Esenwein and his brother Francis "Earl" Kabler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26 at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, 154 S. Elm Street, with Reverend Paula Archdeacon officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the services on Friday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. Military Honors provided by the American Legion of Columbiana will follow at Columbiana Cemetery Chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's memory to First United Methodist Church, 210 S. Main St, Columbiana, OH 44408, or the American Legion Post 290, 44403 State Route 14, Columbiana, OH 44408.
