Park Ave. Columbiana, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Essex I of Salem following a brief illness. She had been in Essex for eight days. Bertie was born on February 2, 1925 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Gilbert G. and Bertha Mae Figley Pinkerton. She moved to Columbiana in 1925. She worked at Kimpel's Jewelry of Columbiana for 28 years from 1967-1995 as a sales clerk. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbiana and the Columbiana Historical Society. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling in earlier years. She was preceded in death on May 13, 2005 by her husband, Richard H. Stephens. They were married May 4, 1947. Survivors include her daughter Nancy VanFossan and her husband Gerald of Leetonia, two sons Jeffrey Stephens of Salem and Scott Stephens and his wife Jane of Columbiana and four grandchildren Joshua, Alison, Matt and Corey. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Jan Winnale officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
