Betty Louise Arkwright Jones, 80, of 8730 West South Range Rd., went home to be with the Lord Wednesday evening after becoming ill at home. Mrs. Jones was born January 19, 1931, the daughter of Wilson and Hilda (Evans) Arkwright, and was a lifelong area resident. Betty graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught at Greenford and South Range school districts for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Betty was a member of the Wedgewood Evangelical Church for 50 years, later transferring to the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana. She was an active member of the church, having served as choir director, played piano, and taught Sunday school. She was also a past board member and conference delegate in past years. Betty served on a committee to establish a library in Greenford. She was also a bookkeeper for her husband's business for 50 years. Betty was a helping hand to all, having volunteered at the Mahoning Valley Mission. She enjoyed traveling and sewing in earlier years. Betty leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert, whom she married July 30, 1949; her daughter Jane (John) Mihalko of New Springfield; her son, Robert (Vicki) Jones of Salem; her sisters Shirley (Pete) Wellman of North Lima and Linda (Roy) Houser of Greenford; her brother Robert Arkwright of Canfield; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Peggy Linton. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, at the Zion Hill Church of the Brethren with Rev. John Bartholomew officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, July 2, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, North Lima Chapel, and one hour prior to the services on Sunday.
