Betty Jane Hunsinger Ruane Betty Jane Ruane, 92, passed away October 31, 2009. She was born on the east side of Youngstown, Ohio, on September 9, 1917, to Freas and Rebecca Hunsinger. Betty's family moved to the Wickcliff area and she graduated from Fitch High School in 1935. She worked at the Ravenna Arsenal during World War II and met Thomas L. Ruane, to whom she was married on September 22, 1943. They lived together on the west side of Youngstown until Tom's death in 1989. She worked at Conroy's Market for many years and was a member of the Austintown Community Church. She leaves her son, Thomas F. (Tim) Ruane and his wife, Donna, her nieces, Joyce Pogony, Virginia Shanabarger, and nephews, Miles, Donald, and Fred Hunsinger, along with many great and great- great nieces and nephews . Her two brothers, Kenneth Z. and Ronald J. Hunsinger, preceded her in death. The family would like to offer special thanks to Ginny and Paul Shanabarger for their devoted assistance to Betty and a sincere thanks, also, to all those at Sunrise Assisted Living who attended to her care and comfort. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Youngstown. Friends and family may call at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. As a tribute to Betty for her life-long love of gardening, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Mill Creek Metro Parks and sent to Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 44509.
