Bonnie Lou Gustafson, 76, of 272 Old State Route 14, Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at her home following a three year illness. Bonnie was born on May 6, 1933 in Columbiana, Ohio, the daughter of the late Wilbert DeJane and Kathleen (Stephens) Bell. Mrs. Gustafson was a 1951 graduate of Columbiana High School. She was a homemaker and a member of The American Legion Auxiliary Post #290 of Columbiana. Bonnie was an avid canner and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gustafson was preceded in death on January 8, 2004 by her husband, Howard E. "Hud" Gustafson whom she married on September 15, 1951. Bonnie is survived by two daughters, Tammy Sweat of Struthers, Ohio, Holly (Craig) Downing of Leetonia, Ohio; one son, Jeff (Doreen) Gustafson of Columbiana, Ohio; two sisters, Dixie (George) McGaffick of Florida, Lola (Albert) Cross of Washingtonville, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Joanna Dota officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral on Monday, March 1, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. In lieu of flowers the family requests that material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
