NEW MIDDLETOWN - Bryan Gene Heffinger Sr., 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 11. Bryan was born on October 22, 1941 in Youngstown, OH, a son of Frank and Irene (Mertz) Heffinger. A Struthers High School graduate, Bryan proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a combat engineer. He worked for the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation for over 40 years as Maintenance Supervisor. After retiring, he worked at Dickey Electric for three years. He was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Nascar, and John Deere. He enjoyed a good fish fry, and was a member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and the American Legion. Bryan was also very active in his church, Zion Lutheran in New Middletown. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend to all and will be deeply missed. Bryan leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife Bonnie, whom he married January 24, 1989; a sister Charmayne Kuhlman of South Carolina; his children Wendy (John) Rindy, Tammy (Dennie) Mathes, Lauri (Troy) Sauerwein, Amy Emerick, Debbi (Jay) Sanders, Tucker (Melanie) Heffinger, Brent (Dara) Heffinger and step-daughter Jody Vega (Daniel Ifft); 18 grandchildren; cousin Patty Metts and his loving pet Levi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frank Heffinger, and his step-son Luis Vega who passed away on February 6, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14 at 5:00 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market Street, North Lima, with Pastor Larry Klinker officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14 from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded by the Salem Honor Guard.
