Obituary

Carl E. Sager, 87, went to live with the Lord on July 22, 2009, with his family by his side. He began his life's journey on October 14, 1921, in New Castle, PA, the son of Charles and Wilhemina (nee Pape) Sager. He graduated from Shenango High School in 1939 and was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps. He was employed in the railroad industry for his entire working career, with the Pennsylvania & Lake Erie Railroad, Penn Central and the Association of American Railroads. In his retirement years, he was an active member of the Northeastern Ohio Forestry Association and loved to work with wood. He lived the life of a country gentleman and enjoyed the companionship of family, friends and his dogs. Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Ruth (nee Padmore) Sager; a brother, Robert Sager and a sister Wilma Sager. Carl is survived by his sister, Catherine Stroud, and his two children by a previous marriage, Pamela (Michael) Loch of Medina, Ohio, and David (Sharon) Sager of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. He was very proud of his three grandchildren, Kristin (Steve) Schulte, Matthew Sager, and Stephanie Loch. Carl's life will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Mr. Jeff Hugus officiating. Calling hours will be from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery where the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of Columbiana will conduct a military honors service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that material contributions can be made to Angels for Animals, 4750 S.R. 165, Canfield, Ohio, 44406. www.angelsforanimals.org
