Caroline "Sis" Davies, 90, of Columbiana, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9 following a brief illness at her home with her daughter Betts and longtime friend Carole Boulianne at her side. Caroline was born on October 8, 1921 in Ferrell, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Dorndetti) Pandolfi. Caroline was a graduate of Ferrell High School and the Carnegie Technical College of Dress Design. She worked as society editor at the Columbiana Ledger for four years. Caroline served as an assistant secretary at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana for 12 years. She also wrote columns for the Salem News for 19 years. She was a long time standing member of the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana where she served in many capacities over the years, most notably as a greeter and member of the Women's Guild. Sis was a talented portrait artist, and has painted over 200 portraits. She taught painting classes in her home for thirty-five years. Caroline leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Betts (Elizabeth) Davies, of Pompano Beach, Fla.; her grandson, Douglas Davies; her granddaughter Jana Lampe; two great-grandchildren, Nick and Macy; and several nieces and nephews. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Davies, whom she married on Aug. 16, 1941 and died on Aug. 22, 1979; her son Thomas Davies; a grandson, Tommy Davies; and one brother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 13 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Columbiana with Reverend Thomas Ziegler celebrating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana. As per Sis's wishes, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Cancer Research.
