COLUMBIANA- Catherine J. Carroll, 89, passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice House, surrounded by her family. Catherine was born on April 22, 1925 in Washingtonville, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Newcomer) Boston. A 1943 graduate of Leetonia High School, she worked at the Salem McCulloch's in retail sales, and was a secretary for Attorney D.F. Grappy. Catherine was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbiana. She enjoyed crocheting and playing the organ. At church, she was a member of the fellowship class and played the hand bells in the bell choir at its inception. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and her dog, Abby. Catherine leaves to cherish her precious memory her son Tom Carroll and his wife Janet of Greenford; her daughter Cheryl Snyder and her husband Lowell of Columbiana; brother Frank Boston and wife Polly of Bradenton, FL; sister Naomi Reno and husband Walter of Sharpsville; two grandchildren Andrea Snyder and her husband Tom Wakefield of Boardman and Ellery Snyder of Columbiana; and three great grandchildren Meredith, Elena, and Coraline Wakefield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Paul E. Carroll, whom she married on November 28, 1945 and who passed away February 17, 1990. Services will be held for family and friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday April 15 at Columbiana Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Joshua Conley officiating. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until services begin.
