COLUMBIANA - Catherine "Kitty" Sturgell Gorcheff Reed, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 27, at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center. Kitty was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Fullerton, Ky., a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Conley) Sturgell. She moved to Greenford as a child and remained in the area the rest of her life. She retired from GM Lordstown in 1991. After retirement, she volunteered as a clown for RSVP, entertaining at nursing homes and other events. She leaves behind two daughters, Madeline (Phil) Morris of Orlando, Fla., and Carolyn (Robert) Brady of Columbiana; two sons, Thomas C. Gorcheff of New Waterford and David A. (Patti) Gorcheff of North Lima; six grandchildren, David (Deb) Van Kirk, Michele Van Kirk, Dennis (Kirsten) Brady, Thomas Gorcheff, Brandon Gorcheff, and Kelsey Gorcheff; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas P. Gorcheff; her second husband, Harlan Reed; two brothers, Thomas Sturgell and Norman Sturgell; and four sisters, Opal Blockson, Irene LeMaster, Lorena Yates and Ada Prudent. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St. in North Lima, with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Hope Cemetery in Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695B Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite 301, Canfield, OH 44406, or Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center for their compassionate care of Kitty during her stay with them. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima has been entrusted with the arrangements.
