Cecil C. Cusick, 89, of 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, South Carolina, passed away at 4:14 pm, Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Richard Campbell VA Nursing Home in Anderson, South Carolina. Cecil who was the last of a family of seven was born December 2, 1920 in Lisbon, the son of the late William and Emily F. Hill Cusick. Mr. Cusick worked on a farm several years in Canfield, Ohio, that was part of the Mahoning County Experimental Farm across from the Canfield Fair. He also had worked for Truck Stops of America in North Lima as a Therma-King mechanic and then he worked for Fyda White of Austintown until he retired at age 67 in 1976. Cecil was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during W.W. II aboard aircraft carrier U.S.S. Mandorr which served in the Atlantic and the Pacific as a Gunners Mate. He loved making wooden crafts, he used to make wooden angels and wooden painted poinsettias with lights that people would purchase and put in their yards for Christmas. He was always known for his immaculate yard and beautiful flowers and his huge garden. He loved being outside and tinkering in the yard. When his wife Shirley became sick he was right there with her taking excellent care of her right to the end. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cecil was preceded in death on August 4, 2006, by his wife, the former Shirley M. Dicken. They were married December 28, 1952. Survivors include two daughters Carolyn (Donald) Witherstein of Spartansburg, SC and Robbin (Barney) Gleghorn of Enon Valley, PA; three sons Cecil Eugene Cusick of Dayton, Gary L. (Carol) Cusick of San Antonio, Texas and Thomas J. (Judy) Cusick of Boardman; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Dianna Reese on July 8, 2001 and a son Bryan Keith Cusick on July 16, 1965. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Free Methodist Community Church in New Middletown with Pastor Hal Haire officiating. Burial will be in New Springfield Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 pm Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Free Methodist Community Church in New Middletown.
