COLUMBIANA - Charles R. "Chuck" McCreary, 82, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, January 26 at his home. Charles was born on February 5, 1933, in Lowellville, a son of Herbert and Bertha W. (Buchanan) McCreary. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. He married the former Margaret Reash on October 31, 1961. Charles worked at Sharon Steel Mill as a ladle operator, and a truck driver for Youngstown Cartage, and owned and operated his own backhoe business. He enjoyed fixing and owning race cars and spent many nights fishing. Charles relaxed at the local truck stop for his daily cup of coffee. Along with his wife, he belonged to the special police for the Ickesburg Fire Department. He also enjoyed going to auctions. Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret; five sons Charles and his wife Donna of Carlisle, PA, Richard of Knox, PA, David and his wife Donna of North Lima, Edward and his wife Minda of Columbiana, and Ronald of Columbiana; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother Donald McCreary; and sisters Edie McCreary and Fern, Patty and Jo-Ann Sauer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Edward Sauer, and brothers Arnold and Robert McCreary and John Sauer. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 29 at noon at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, Columbiana, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray final expenses. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
