Clair Howard Miller, 82, of 125 W. Friend St. Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 3:07 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Salem Community Hospital from an apparent heart attack. Clair was born on March 16, 1924 in Brogueville, Pennsylvania, the son of Howard and Carrie Reinholt Miller. Mr. Miller moved to the local area in 1969. He was a retired truck driver. He was an owner-operator from 1961-1971 of Jones Motor Freight of York, Pennsylvania and then from 1971-1983, he worked at Ryder Truck Lines in Warren, Ohio. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbiana. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving from June 1944 - October 1945 where he was a prisoner of war. He received a Bronze Star Medal. He was a life member of V.F.W. Red Lion Pa. Post #1446, a life member of American Legion Post 543-37 in Red Lion, Pa., a member of the Loyal order of Moose Lodge #148 of York,Pennsylvania and a member of Teamsters local retirees #377 of Youngstown, Ohio. Clair was preceded in death on June 12, 1999 by his wife, the former Shirlee A. Pine, whom he married April 21, 1969. Survivors include two daughters Connie Maugel and her husband Timothy of College Park, Maryland and Carole Burkholder of Red Lion, Pennsylvania. He was one of 16 children and is survived by a younger sister Mrs. Marcelene Snyder of Red Lion, Pennsylvania and a granddaughter Nicole Maugel of Washington D.C. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, April 29, 2006 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Rev. Steven K. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of Columbiana. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday, April 29, 2006. In lieu of flowers, family suggests that material tributes be made to the church.
