Clifford K. Wire, 82 of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 30, at Beeghly-Oaks in Youngstown. Clifford was born on October 18, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Chauncey and Edith (Stacey) Wire. Clifford was a life long area resident and attended Poland High School. He served in the Army in W.W. II in the 82nd Airborne and was a member of V.F.W. #2799 of New Springfield. Clifford worked in the H & T department at Cold Metal Products in Campbell and also as a security guard there. Following his retirement from Cold Metal Products he did maintenance at Poland schools. Mr. Wire attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield and was an avid bowler and golfer and played in many local bowling leagues, including Tangiers Bar and Poland Business men. Mr. Wire played AA Baseball for Youngstown before he entered the service. Clifford is survived by his wife Genevieve A. (Summer) Wire, whom he married August 1, 1947, four daughters; Linda (Larry) Fain of North Lima, Nancy (Michael) Gaskill of New Springfield, Joyce (John) Richardson of New Middletown and Alice (James) Melek of Poland, ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Mr. Wire was preceded in death by three brothers; Everett, Clarence and Wilbur Wire and two sisters; Ruth Brennard and Edna Harkabus. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Jay Eastman Officiating. Burial will be in Poland Cemetery where a military honors service will be conducted by The American Legion, Benjamin Firestone Post 290 of Columbiana. Calling Hours will be from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
