Obituary

Crawford S. Detwiler, 80, died early Saturday morning at the Essex III Nursing Home in Salem. Mr. Detwiler was born in Canfield, OH June 13, 1926, a son of Jonah H. and Cora E. Stutzman Detwiler. He was a 1944 graduate of North Lima High School. He worked at the Youngstown Vindicator as Circulation Manager for 39 years retiring in 1988. He was a former member of Ruritan, Beaver Zoning Committee, and the Communications Workers of American Local; and was also a member of the Greenford Christian Church, where he served on the mission committee and was an usher. Crawford was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WW II in Japan occupational forces; and also saw action and many battles. He leaves his wife, the former, Louise Wellman, whom he married September 24, 1949; four daughters Janice K. (Frank) Yarosh of Barrington, IL, Karen L. Smith of Columbiana Tammy J. (Terry) Kenney of Leetonia, and Jill M. Detwiler at home; a son, Terry L. (Mary) Detwiler of Bradenton, Fl; a brother Jay H. Detwiler of Austintown; 3 grandchildren, Anna and James Smith; and Mia Detwiler; and 3 great-grandchildren, Isaac, Noah, and Emma Grace Smith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Enos Detwiler. Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenford Christian Church 11767 Lisbon Rd., Canfield. Friends may call Tuesday, July 11, 2006 from 6-8 pm at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at the Greenford Christian Church.
