Obituary

BOARDMAN - Curtis Y. Simons Sr., 83, passed away Wednesday morning at Hospice House surrounded by family. Mr. Simons was born on October 15, 1930 in Springfield, MA, a son of Charles H. and Gertrude V. (Young) Simons. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea. Curtis was self-employed as a long-distance truck driver. He loved being outdoors, working in his vegetable garden, skeet shooting, and riding on his tractor. In his younger days, he raised chickens, steer, and took care of horses. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Debbie Forgac and her husband Ernie of North Lima and Lauren Savon and her husband David of Columbiana; son Steven and his wife Sunday of NJ and daughter Diane Simons of MA; daughter-in-law Kim Meyer; many grandchildren, including David John, Amanda, Jason, Nicole, Shannon, and Justin; several great-grandchildren; brother David G. and his wife Evelyn of Greensboro, NC; and his special friend Vickie. Curtis was preceded in death his parents, sons Curtis "Chip" Y. Simons Jr. and David Joki; and nephew Greg Simons. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice House and at the CVIC unit at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Youngstown for the loving care shown to their father. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 11 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH 44408. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. The Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio is entrusted with the arrangements.
