Dan Bogdan, Jr. 87, Allay Senior Care Pendelton St. Lisbon, Ohio, passed away at 12:48 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Salem Community Hospital. Mr. Bogdan was born February 22, 1920 in Leetonia, Ohio, the son of Dan and Versavia Burson Bogdan. Dan moved to Salem in 1983 and back to Lisbon in 2005. Mr. Bogdan worked as a crusher operator at Excelsier Brick Yard in Lisbon. He also worked for Industrial Coal Mining Co. of Leetonia as a Tipple Operator and in later years he worked for New Waterford Painting Company. Dan was a member of First Christian Church of Columbiana. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during W.W. II. Mr. Bogdan was a member of the V.F.W. of Lisbon and he was an avid Square Dancer for many years. Dan was preceded in death on January 19, 2005 by his wife, the former Dorothy V. Dotson, whom he married November 16, 1963. Other survivors include two daughters Vickie Thomas and her husband Ernie of Orlando, FL, Carolyn Greathouse and her husband Doug of Lisbon; two sons Dan Harroff and his wife Diane of Columbiana and Fred Harroff and his wife Sue of Las Vegas, Nevada; a step-daughter Mrs. Twila Weisenberger of Hampton, Virginia; two step-sons Arley Bartholow and his wife Darlene of Columbiana and Don Bartholow and his wife Lydia of Lisbon; two sisters Jennie Hiner of Lisbon and Helen of Sunland, CA; a brother Nicholas Bogdan of Columbiana and 44 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers John Bogdan and George Bogdan and a sister Miss Irene Bogdan. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with Mr. Clarence Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Square Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.
