Daniel Francis Hickman, Sr., 81, of 9800 Market Street, North Lima, formerly of Green Garden Dr, Boardman, Ohio, passed away at 11:41 a.m., Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Assumption Village. Mr. Hickman was born September 29, 1926 in West Union, West Virginia, the son of Frank G. & Lola G. (Hess) Hickman. Daniel was a graduate of West Union high school. He moved to the local area in 1948 and was employed by Boardman Steel as a welder for 15 years. In earlier years Dan worked in construction and for the Chrysler Corporation in Youngstown. Mr. Hickman was a Korea War Veteran. Daniel was a member of Lake Milton Fish and Game Club for many years. He also enjoyed traveling with Mary. Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by his first wife Martha Jane (Stratton) Hickman on October 5, 1993. Daniel is survived by his second wife, Mary (Gilda) Hickman, whom he married on February 11, 1995. Other survivors include one daughter, Janet (Thomas) Madden of Milan, Illinois and one son, Daniel (Cynthia) Hickman, Jr. of New Springfield, Ohio. Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with Rev. Gary Rozier officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, August 30, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima. The family suggests that material tributes be made to Hospice of the Valley.
