Obituary

SALEM - Daniel Charles Kloss, 75, of Columbiana, passed away Friday morning, April 8 at Salem Regional Medical Center. Mr. Kloss was born on December 3, 1940, in Sharon, PA, a son of Daniel and Maryella (Lark) Kloss Sr. He earned a BA in Business Administration from Youngstown State University, and worked at National Refractories and Minerals Corporation, formerly Kaiser, in Columbiana. Daniel was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for 45 years. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award, Wood Badge, Order of the Arrow Founders Award, and District Award of Merit. He was a scout master for many years as well as Committee Chairman for Troop #18 and advisor of Scarayadii Lodge 472 Columbiana Counsel Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. A junior achievement advisor in earlier years, Dan was also a member of the New Middleton Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing, and loved to pass on his knowledge of the outdoors to his grandchildren. Dan was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana, where he was an ordained elder. He also taught junior high Sunday school, sang in the choir, acted as trustee, and prior to becoming an elder served as deacon. He is survived by his wife, the former Suzanne Sahli, whom he married June 16, 1962; two sons Kevin and his wife Elaine of Columbiana and Keith and his wife Frances of Sharon, PA; a daughter Karen Clark and her husband Michael of Columbiana; five grandchildren Mary and Danny Kloss and Noah, Hannah and Rebekah Clark; and a sister Beverly Vanko and her husband John. Dan was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Columbiana, 28 E. Park Ave., with Pastor Fritz Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Tuesday April 12, at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, and also an hour before the services, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Dan's memory to the Church Memorial Fund, 28 E. Park Ave., Columbiana, OH 44408 or Troop #18, Boy Scouts of America, c/o 28 N. Elm St., Columbiana, OH 44408. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
