Daniel Mignogna, 85, of Wind Rose Ct., Columbiana, Ohio, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on August 5, 2010 at Blossom Nursing Center. Mr. Mignogna was born September 26, 1924 in Hannistown, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Guiseppe and Asunta Cantrone Mignogna. Daniel was a construction worker and past mayor of Leetonia. Mr. Mignogna was a W.W. II European Theatre Army Infantry Veteran. He was a member of The American Legion Post #290 of Columbiana and served as 10th district commander in the 1980's and was also a member of V.F.W. Washingtonville Post # 5532. Daniel was very active in Boy scouts. Mr. Mignogna was a rifle and arrow instructor and a member of the Order of the Arrow and recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Daniel was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbiana. Daniel is survived by his wife Betty (Faulk) Holman, whom he married on October 27, 1977. He is also survived by two sons, Daniel "Sonny" Mignogna of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mike (Shirley) Mignogna of Niles, Ohio; two sisters, Holly (Mike) Payne of Hannistown, Pennsylvania, Dolly (Frank) Ullianno of Crabtree, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and by his step-children, Julie Olson, Jim Rowan, Clinton Homan, Shirley Baker, Richard Homan, Bonita Gauding, and Daniel Homan. Mr. Mignogna was preceded in death by two daughters, Gloria Melius and Phyllis Scott; one son, David Mignogna; four brothers and three sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Columbiana with Mr. John Reed officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Columbiana. The American Legion Post # 290 will conduct a Military Honors Service following the funeral service at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that material contributions be made to the First Christian Church, 39 Cherry Street, Columbiana, Ohio 44408.
