BOARDMAN - David Wayne Reash, 65, of New Waterford, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2016 at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in Boardman. Mr. Reash was born on February 26, 1951 in Salem, OH, a son of Robert W. and Doris (Petersen) Reash. He attended East Palestine schools, and graduated Columbiana High School in 1969. David served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. A 32 year member of the American Legion Post 290, he managed the canteen for the last seven years. He was in charge of the Columbiana Street Fair for 17 years. David was very active in Columbiana Youth Baseball where he served on the board as President and was instrumental in creating the baseball complex on Metz Road. Through his many years of coaching, he affected a lot of young men's lives. David owned and operated Reash's Farm Market for over 20 years. Prior to that, he had also worked at Firestone Tire in Akron, on the family farm, and at Farmer's National Bank. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and fishing. A Steelers and Pirates fan, he loved working with the public and spending time with his many friends and family. He was adored by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his sister Marilyn Ciapala of New Waterford; two brothers Dale (Kathi) of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Daniel (Kim) of East Palestine; and nieces and nephews Michelle (Tom) Crawford, Aaron Ciapala, Dan (Tammy) Reash Jr., Doug Reash, Emilee (Craig) Houser, Donavan Reash, and Tess (Jesse Ricketts) Reash. David was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Church of Christ, 140 S. Main St., Columbiana. A service at Columbiana Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 290 honor guard will be held Saturday, April 23 at 11:15 a.m. Procession from American Legion Post 290 will begin at 11:00 a.m. Following the service the family extends an invitation for friends and family to meet back at the Columbiana American Legion for a luncheon and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's' memory to the American Legion Post 290, 44403 State Route 14, Columbiana, OH 44408 or Columbiana Youth Baseball (CYB), PO Box 265, Columbiana, OH 44408. The family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana, Ohio with the arrangements for their loved one.
