Donald "Whitey" F. Linden, 84 of 9555 Struthers Rd. Unit 613, New Middletown, Ohio, passed away at 2:55 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2008 at St. Elizabeth in Boardman. Mr. Linden was born on August 31, 1923, the son of Elmer J. and Mary V. (Nelson) Linden. Donald was a life-long area resident. He was a teamster truck driver working out of the Local 377 of Youngstown for 38 years. He worked for the Youngstown Vindicator, Daniels Motor Freight and Commercial Lovelace Motor Freight from which he retired in 1983. Mr. Linden was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ having served on the consistory. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in the Pacific Theatre during W.W. II from 1942-1946. Donald was a member of the A.A.R.P. and the Teamster Retirees. He was an avid golfer, bowler and had been a member of the Sr. Golf League at Mill Creek. He also liked watching and listening to YSU, Ohio State, Cleveland Browns Football and South Range Little Raider and Varsity Football. He also loved the Cleveland Indians. Donald was preceded in death on February 8, 1989 by his wife, the former Pearl Y. Horvath whom he married August 30, 1947. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie (Linden) Byler of Canfield, Ohio and a sister Dorothy Young of Idaho. Donald was also preceded in death by three brothers David, George, Raymond and a sister Jenny Little. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Paradise United Church of Christ on New Buffalo Rd. with Rev. Steve Geitgey officiating. Burial will be in Lake Park Cemetery where the American Legion Benjamin Firestone Post #290 of Columbiana will conduct a Military Honors Service. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the church .
