Donna Jean Barrow, 81, a life long resident of Columbiana, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Salem Community Hospital. Mrs. Barrow was born on November 23, 1927 the daughter of the late Carl V. and Lelia F. (Parsons) Thompson of Youngstown, Ohio. Donna was a 1944 graduate from Scienceville High School in Youngstown, Ohio and a 1948 graduate from The Ohio State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Mrs. Barrow loved serving her family and was a skilled and loving home maker. Donna also loved Columbiana and was active in many social and service organizations. She was co-founder of Community Christian Women of Columbiana. She was a woman of deep Christian faith and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana where she served as a Sunday School teacher, youth worker, and passionate supporter of missions. Mrs. Barrow was preceded in death by the love of her life 13 days ago, Robert S. Barrow, whom she married on June 9, 1951. Other survivors include one daughter, Susan (Patrick) Schmidt of Waxhaw, North Carolina; one son, Alfred (June) Barrow of Greenwood, Indiana; four grandchildren, Emily (Marc) DeJeu, Nathan Barrow, Eric and Joy Schmidt; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and William DeJeu. Donna was preceded in death by one brother, Carl F. Thompson. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church in Columbiana with Rev. Scott Parker officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church on Thursday, August 20, 2009. Family suggests that in lieu of flowers material tributes may be made to The Needle's Eye Christian Center, 74 Kenmore Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44507, in memory of Donna Barrow. Donna was a woman of prayer and expressed her love by praying for her family, friends, and caregivers at Parkside Healthcare Center, all of whom she hoped would put their trust in the Savior she loved and followed all her life.
