Doris M. Bishop, 88, of 3427 W. Western Reserve Rd. Canfield, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2006 at the Salem Community Hospital Emergency Room following a sudden illness. Doris was born on October 8, 1917 in North Lima, the daughter of Chester and Elma Shank Hixson. She was a life-long area resident. She worked at Commercial Intertec as a welder during W.W. II and was also employed at several other local companies in the area over the past years. She was a member of the Paradise United Church of Christ where she had been a past choir member. She was preceded in death on August 10, 2001, by her husband, William A. Bishop. They were married August 15, 1953. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Judith Baer of New Waterford and a son Chet Smith of Poland, Ohio, a sister Mrs. Velma Reese currently of Salem, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A brother Grant Hixson preceded her in death. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Paradise United Church of Christ with Rev. Steve Geitgey officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the church. Family suggests that material tributes be made to Paradise United Church of Christ Building Fund.
