Mrs. Smith was born September 17, 1918 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of Frank T. and Tillie Esenwein Sprott. In 1949, Doris married George Tanner Smith, and in 1999 they celebrated 50 years of joyful marriage surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Dr. Sheryl E. Smith of Aurora and Sandra L. Smith of Natick, Massachusetts and Medford, New Jersey, as well as Diane Strachan of Aurora and Stuart Lubin of Natick. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Tanner Smith, and her sisters, Ruth Madden and Hazel Sprott. Doris will be remembered for her infinite thoughtfulness and kind and loving manner with all who were a part of her life. Doris and her family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for her while living at Anna Maria of Aurora. Doris was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle. She attended Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge, Ohio during her residence in Aurora. Doris was also a member of the North Lima SaLaura Garden Club. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Good Hope Lutheran Church in North Lima, Ohio. The family will receive friends for one hour preceding the service. Interment will be immediately following at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
