They celebrated their 70th Wedding anniversary in 2013, surrounded by their family. Doris was a life-long member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield, where she served as church organist for many years. She was active in the Lydia and Ruth Circles, and the Women of the Church. She also played the piano for community events such as the Messiah and she gave piano lessons. Her life was about the church, family, music, and friends. She maintained contact with her school classmates all her life. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her two daughters Carolyn Riggins of New Middletown and Kathy (Jim) Whan-Marko of Mentor; a son Michael (Jane) Whan of Girard; two grandchildren Lori Dellick and Brian (Ashley) Whan; and three great grand-daughters Lanna, Cara, and Victoria. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 13 one and a half hours prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the church. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and caregivers at Glenellen, Sunrise, and Assumption for their wonderful care of Mom. We are forever grateful.
